If I was a battery, the job I'd dread, most, would be shoving a trolley, loaded with golf clubs, in a zig-zag pattern around a wet golf course or, perhaps worse, driving a fully-loaded mobility scooter up and down hills, over rough surfaces, for mile after mile. 

A pair of batteries in a mobility scooter has to carry a load of, say, 200kg or so (including rider) for 20km or so between charges. Have a think about how much effort you'd put into pushing a wheelbarrow, containing 100 house bricks, for 20km, and that should put it in perspective. It's nothing short of a miracle that the batteries can do it at all!
